Blood Drive

We hosted our annual blood drive yesterday.  Thanks to Mrs. Lang and student council.  This is a message from Mrs. Lang!  Great job West Hancock!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the blood drive this year!  We had 25 registered donors this year.  Of those 25, 23 were able to donate blood, and 6 of those were double red cell procedures!  The nurse in charge mentioned that the students that donated and that worked at the donation center were very easy to work with, and that it was a great drive. Good job West Hancock students!

State Level Accomplishments for Several Activities!

We have had a lot of success this winter at West Hancock in our activities!

Our wrestling team qualified four individuals for the State tournament.  Ryder Clark, Gunnar Clark, Chris Schleuger and Zac Schleuger all qualified!  Gunnar placed 8th, Chris placed 4th and Zac placed 3rd.  It was a great way to end the wrestling season! Congratulations to the wrestlers and coaches!

Our girls basketball team had a great season and qualified for the State Tournament for the second year in a row.  Their season ended with a heartbreaking loss to PellaChristian on Tuesday.  It has been quite a run for these girls the last two years.  Congratulations to the players and coaches!

The Individual Speech team competed at the district tournament at Mason City and had a great day! We achieved 18 division one ratings! They will compete at State on March 10th.  Congratulations to all of our qualifiers and coaches!

Supply Drive for Britt Food Bank!

Our advisor program sponsored a supply drive for the Britt Food Bank. Our goal was to get personal items, paper products and toiletries that sometimes run low at the food bank.  Our staff and students did a fabulous job! They collected 637 items and $87.00 cash!  We will announce the winners when we have everything tabulated.

Thank you to all of our students for their generosity!

Michaela Andreasen, Taylor Glawe, Kelly Anderson, Rachel Francis, Melissa Miller and Alissa Lauderback represent some of the top advisor groups.
Tristen Eden, Aaron Bratten, Scott Glawe and Jiummy Harris help load the supplies

Hex 5 Starts today!

Parents,

Today is the beginning of Hex 5.  Students will have until the end of the day Friday to tie up any loose ends from Hex 4.  Please speak with your students and check on line grades to make sure there is not anything major from Hex 4 that they are missing.  We are 1/3 of the way through the semester.  It is definitely a good time to do a check in with your student.  Report cards will be available on line by the end of the day Tuesday.

Last week our advisory groups had a food / personal supply drive for the Britt Food bank.  Our students did great!  Thank you to all who donated. Thanks to Mrs. DeHart and Mrs. Winter for heading up this activity.  I will post some pictures in a later post.

Congratulations to our wrestlers. Zac placed 3rd, Chris placed 4th and Gunnar placed 8th.  It was a nice season for the wrestling team.

Bob Steenlage Addresses West Hancock

Mr. Bob Steenlage addressed the West Hancock high school, middle school and several community members.  His message was great!  He talked about how school was in the 1960's, following your dreams, making good choices and feeding the right Wolf.  Please ask your child about the message and how it impacted them.

In case you were unaware, Bob Steenlage was the first four time state wrestling champion in the state of Iowa in 1962.  He will be honored at the state championships this week for the 50th anniversary of this great achievement.

Mr. Recker, Mr. Steenlage and Mr. Kronemann
